What is in the file

One entry per card, in frequency order:

word – the German word
article – for nouns, the article as course books abbreviate it: -r (der), -e (die), -s (das)
meaning – German definition
meaning_en – English definition
pos – part of speech: noun, verb, adjective or adverb
rank, freq – position and number of occurrences in the frequency list

Word frequencies: FrequencyWords by Hermit Dave, counted in the OpenSubtitles corpus. Content licensed CC BY-SA 4.0.
German definitions: German Wiktionary contributors, processed via kaikki.org. Licensed CC BY-SA 4.0.
English definitions: English Wiktionary contributors, processed via kaikki.org (Wiktextract). Licensed CC BY-SA 4.0.

Changes made

Only nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs were kept; function words and inflected forms were removed, and the 1,000 most frequent remaining words selected.
Articles were added from Wiktionary’s gender information.
A small number of profanities were left out.
For each word the first listed definition was taken from each Wiktionary; wiki markup and reference residue were removed.

You may share and adapt this data for any purpose, including commercially, as long as you give appropriate credit, link to the licence, indicate changes, and distribute your adaptations under the same licence. The app itself (its code, design and icon) is not covered by this licence.
