SPELLSCAST

Your phone. Your wand.

Start a game from your iPhone

Choose Start a game in the app. Create a game link, then send it to your computer with Messages, email, AirDrop to a Mac, or another sharing app. You can also copy the link. Open it on the other screen and select Open game on this screen. Return to the iPhone app and it connects automatically. Choose your controls, then tap Start game.

Each automatic link works on one screen and expires after ten minutes. Keep the app open or return to it after sharing. If the link expires, create another one. Leaving the setup page cancels an unused link.

For a TV, the app also offers the website address and instructions for a TV browser, HDMI from a computer, and AirPlay from a Mac. Standard iPhone mirroring displays the controller. Use a computer as the game screen when mirroring to a TV.

Join an existing game

  1. Open SpellsCast on a computer or TV browser. Leave that page open.
  2. Open the SpellsCast app on your iPhone and choose Join an existing game, then Scan the game QR. Scan the code on the big screen, or enter its six-digit room code.
  3. Choose motion controls or touch controls. Point comfortably at the screen and center your wand.
  4. Hold the cast pad, draw the rune in the air, and release. With touch controls, draw directly on the pad.

The phone and screen need internet access. They do not need to be on the same Wi-Fi. Each room supports two wands. Sound and music play on the big screen; click that screen once to enable audio.

Troubleshooting

Expo Go preview

The Expo preview QR opens this app in Expo Go. Once the app opens, use its scanner to scan the separate game QR on your computer. The browser's Open in SpellsCast link requires an installed standalone or development build.
