Privacy Policy for Pen AI: Pen Digitizer

Effective October 9, 2026 · Publisher: Emirhan Şimşek

Scope

This policy covers Pen AI: Pen Digitizer for iPhone and iPad, version 1.0, and this support website. The app is labeled Trace on the Home Screen.

The app does not require an account and does not contain advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics integrations. The developer does not automatically collect camera frames, sketches, or coordinates from the app.

Camera and on-device processing

With your permission, the app uses camera frames to identify a pen, follow its movement, and estimate the drawing surface. Camera analysis happens on your device. Camera frames and sketches are not sent to a developer-operated server.

When Retain frames for review is enabled, camera-delivered frames are temporarily saved on the device so the app can revisit missed pen movements. These images are reduced to at most 640 pixels on their longest side. Retention is bounded by 512 MB or 36,000 frames per capture; failures and delivery gaps are reported. Temporary review frames are excluded from operating-system backups and deleted after saving or clearing the capture, or at the next app launch.

Information stored on your device

When you confirm a pen reference, the app stores that photograph and information derived from the pen’s appearance locally. Saved sketches include drawing points, timestamps, estimated positions, and capture settings.

Images and annotations you import into Lab, and optional detector models, are also stored locally. These files support the features you choose to use.

Imports, exports, and backups

If you select an image or model with a system picker, that file is made available to the app for the requested feature.

You can export sketches and coordinates through the system share sheet. The optional measurement-pilot workflow can prepare a local export bundle containing camera images, a pen reference, timestamps, calibration, controls, and tracking results for evaluation. Prepared or exported bundles are separate from the temporary review archive and can remain after that archive is cleared. Share these bundles only if you intend to share their images and recorded information. The destination you choose handles exported copies under its own privacy practices. Operating-system backups and file-provider services may also handle local data according to your device settings.

Control and deletion

  • Delete saved sketches in Sketchbook.
  • Disable Retain frames for review in Capture settings before starting a capture if you do not want temporary review images retained.
  • Confirm a replacement pen reference to replace the active reference.
  • Revoke camera access in iOS or iPadOS Settings.
  • Delete the app to remove its local app data. Offloading the app is different and may retain its data.
  • Manage exported copies and backups separately in the apps or services where they are stored.

The developer cannot retrieve sketches stored only on your device.
