Help & support
Ready your hands.
Getting started
- Place your iPhone upright in portrait orientation, facing you, with enough space to move both hands.
- Use bright, even lighting and keep your hands fully visible to the front camera.
- Choose Practice spells and show either hand to begin. Survival starts from Enter the portal after both hands are visible.
- Once a session starts, the world continues even if your hands leave the camera view. Use Pause when you need a break.
Spell gestures
- Ember: pinch your thumb and index finger to fire a bolt.
- Aegis: open your hand to summon a shield.
- Arc: extend your index and middle fingers to cast lightning.
- Fireball: close your hand briefly, then open it with your palm facing the ceiling. The ball travels in the direction of your extended fingers and burns crystals on contact.
In Practice, select the spell you want to try. Choosing a spell card does not cast it; use its gesture. Targets return, mana is unlimited, and there is no time limit.
If a gesture isn’t recognized
Move away from backlighting, keep the wrist and fingertips in view, and separate overlapping hands. Close and open your hand deliberately for Fireball. TrueDepth improves hand orientation estimates on compatible devices. The app also uses a 2D fallback when depth is unavailable.
Camera access
If access was denied, open iPhone Settings, choose Apps → Magic Hands, and enable Camera. You can also manage the permission under Privacy & Security → Camera. Spellcasting requires a physical iPhone with a working front camera; the simulator cannot track hands.
